Yes, lumber can be pre-stained. We offer this service as an option when our sister company, Fence Guys, builds a fence or deck.
To maintain the integrity and appearance of your wood fence or deck, we recommend restaining every 2–3 years. Sun exposure, weather conditions, and foot traffic can all impact the lifespan of your stain. Regular maintenance ensures long-term protection from UV damage, moisture, and wood decay.
Staining times will vary based upon whether or not cleaning of the existing fence is required prior to staining. Staining times will also vary based upon the size of the fence to be stained.

We recommend a soft wash of the deck after it has been stained and allowed sufficient time to dry.
